Vinay “Hades” Rao, the Head of Esports at Orangutan, recently announced potential shifts in Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) tournament participation and streaming rights. Hades stated that 12 BGMI teams have collectively decided to abstain from participating in all tournaments on Mondays, except official events. Additionally, they are considering demanding streaming rights of their POVs from the tournament organizers. 

In a recent live stream, Hades revealed that 12 BGMI teams have created a WhatsApp group, including the managers and coaches – the ones that can take decisions on the team’s behalf – to discuss important concerns about BGMI esports. Hades revealed that effective immediately, teams will not participate in third-party tournaments scheduled on Mondays. “Starting from Monday, most of us won’t be playing any tournaments on Mondays, no matter how big it is. Except for the official tournaments, which we cannot negotiate. We won’t be playing any third party tournaments. However, we will be participating in all tournaments we previously agreed to play, but in future, we won’t be playing any tournaments on Mondays,” he said.

Hades revealed that teams are considering demanding streaming rights of the tournaments from the quarter-finals onwards. “We have decided that from Quarter Finals to Semi Finals, we have to get streaming rights. We are ready to add their logo, thumbnail, or title to the stream. But we need permission to stream. If we don’t get it, our team won’t play. Because if they want to make money off their sponsorship from our teams, then even we want to make something in return. We can’t solely depend on the prize pool,” he explained.
