‘Beat Saber’ Multiplayer Update Available Now on PC & Quest, Coming Soon to PSVR

Date:

Multiplayer for Beat Saber, a feature which was purportedly in the works since the earliest days of the game, is finally available via a free update today. Players on Quest and PC VR will be able to jump right in, but unfortunately the PSVR update is delayed for the time being.

Update (October 13th, 2020): Beat Saber’s multiplayer update launched today on PC and Quest, but unfortunately PSVR players will need to wait a bit longer.

The new multiplayer mode offers quick-play matchmaking or private rooms supporting up to five players. Cross-play between different headset platforms isn’t supported at this time, but developer Beat Games says it “hopes to support this functionality in future.”

You can read the full patch notes for the v1.12.1 Beat Saber multiplayer update here.

Beat Games originally planned to release the multiplayer update the same day on all platforms but warned that PSVR might be delayed. There’s no specific timeline yet, but the studio says it’s “working hard” on getting it out the door.

The original article, which covered the announcement of the multiplayer update and an upcoming music pack, continues below.

Original Article (September 16th, 2020): The company says Beat Saber’s multiplayer mode is set to launch on October 13th. You’ll be able to pick an avatar, join a private party or random match, and have a virtual dance-off with up to five other players.

Facebook tells us that Beat Saber multiplayer won’t be launching with Steam and Oculus crossplay support. More info is coming soon however on Oculus crossplay between Rift and Quest versions.

Sometime in November Beat Saber will also be getting a BTS music pack featuring the saccharine septet’s chibi-style TinyTAN characters.

Facebook-owned developers Beat Games says the 12-song music pack will let VR users “learn the dance moves” and experience the group’s music together in multiplayer mode. We don’t have a video of this, but we’ll plug that in here as soon as we do.

In the meantime, behold the anatomical horrors of TinyTAN manifest.
