Since technology has taken over many human interactions imaginable, enter augmented reality (AR), which has the sole purpose of taking a computer-generated image or object, and placing it in the real world with the user. Nowadays, this kind of technology is being desired, if not used already, in education. With that said, educators are seeing the potential in using AR to teach children, by allowing learners to do the following:

· Process what they’re being taught, AND

Now, with tech giants like Google and Apple stepping into the arena to develop AR-based products and services, there’s a rising need to implement AR into education in any way possible in this digital age.

With that said, this guide will explore 5 different ways that AR can benefit education — no matter the classroom setting!

1. Encourages Student Curiosity

Group work is part of the norm in the classroom setting. However, with AR, students are introduced to more enhanced interactive learning. AR-based learning models help students in groups experiment with what they’ve learned so far, thus allowing more innovative ideas and projects to form from students.

For example, with science-based subjects like physics, chemistry, and biology, students won’t have to struggle with abstract concepts (i.e. cutting up a frog to study its insides). Instead, AR-based solutions can take 3D models of abstract concepts (like the frog), and let students visualize them without having to do the daunting task of cutting open an animal. This allows students to learn more comfortably, even when tasked with such activities as a group. No more awkward moments where students have to decide who does what in a group.

5. Fewer Distractions, More Learning
