Astralis send GODSENT packing and avoid early elimination from PGL Major

Date:

Astralis took down GODSENT 2-0 in the first elimination match at the PGL Major Stockholm Challengers Stage, winning Nuke 16-3 and Vertigo 16-11. With the star duo Emil “Magisk” Reif and Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen performing much better than on the first day, the Danes didn’t look in danger throughout the series.

Thanks to defeats to Entropiq and Copenhagen Flames on day 1, Astralis are now in the 1-2 bracket and will have to win two BO3s back-to-back in order to join the likes of Natus Vincere and Liquid in the Legends Stage. Meanwhile, GODSENT are the first team eliminated from the event, having lost to three respectable European squads in ENCE, Spirit, and Astralis.

Astralis avoided the 0-3 exit

The series between Astralis and GODSENT kicked off on Nuke, where Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander‘s team went on to chain 10 rounds on the Terrorist side to put Epitacio “TACO” de Melo and co. on the back foot. The Danes had everything going their way, picking up clutches as well to finish the half 13-2 up. Having countered GODSENT‘s pistol win with a force buy after the switch, they tied up the map 16-3.

Aside from a 3-round streak early on, GODSENT never got going on the offensive side of Vertigo either, finishing it down 10-5. Finally, João “felps” Vasconcellos and Bruno “latto” Rebelatto woke up on the defense and started bringing the scoreline back, but Astralis used their large buffer to close out before things got too scary, 16-11.
