Fiserv has been an Aldi partner for 15 years

Aldi Nord operates 2,500 locations in Germany. It also has presences in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Poland, Spain, Denmark, and Portugal.

The firm decided to switch its entire in-store acquiring capabilities at the end of June.

Aldi has been a Fiserv client for 15 years. It uses the vendors Network Service Provider (NSP) services for routing and switching payment transactions. Fiserv also powers Aldi’s online ordering system, launched late last year.

Fiserv claims to have activated its card platform throughout Aldi Nord’s network in five days. Payments are processed via TeleCash from First Data, a Fiserv subsidiary.

Sven Schulze, head of finance at Aldi Nord, says that when faced with “sudden market changes” his firm “knew” it could turn to Fiserv.

“The excellent cooperation between our companies enabled us to pivot to a new in-store card payment solution with impressive speed, and do so without any disruption to our business.”

John Gibbons, head of EMEA at Fiserv, says the deal is “a testament to the strong partnership” the two companies hold.

“With Fiserv, Aldi Nord is enabling a seamless commerce experience across payment channels, and empowering Aldi customers to make purchases in the way they prefer.”
