Date:

AirAsia India

AirAsia India is limiting its flights until February 10 as the third wave of COVID-19 hits the air travel, according to a statement released by the airline. The flights that get curtailed include the direct flights to and from Mumbai.

“Due to a surge in the new COVID-19 variant Omicron cases, immediate demand for flights has been significantly impacted. Consequently, we have curtailed our schedule till February 10 to avoid inconveniencing our guests with last-minute flight cancellations. We continue to monitor demand closely and look forward to a quick recovery,” AirAsia India said in the statement released.

In the first three weeks of January, domestic passenger traffic has reduced nearly 38%. All airlines have resumed making adjustments in their schedules. In effect, the industry-wide daily departures have slowed down to 1600-1800. In December, there were at least 2500 departures.

AirAsia Waives Flight Change Fee for Travels Until March 31

AirAsia India is offering zero charges on flight changes to cope with the travelling re-scheduling. The flight-change fee will be waived for all existing and new bookings on AirAsia flights made till January 31 for travels until March 31. The waiver offer will be applicable for changes made at least 72 hours before scheduled flight departures. The changes made within 72 hours will be charged with the standard fee.

The offer is only applicable for direct online bookings made via the AirAsia website www.airasia.co.in, the AirAsia India mobile app, or an authorised travel agent. This offer is not applicable for Group Bookings.

The passengers may also have to note that if the new flight booked has a lower fare than the original fare, the difference in fare will not be refunded. If the new flight is booked on a higher fare than the original fare booked, the difference in fare shall be paid when making the change. Any add-ons, such as meals or other selections, if not available on the new flight booked, no refunds will be processed. Pre-booked checked baggage will be carried forward to your next flight.
