Boston-based AI startup Overjet, which uses tech to help untangle dental scans, has raised $7.85 million of seed investment. The round, led by Californian VC Crosslink Capital, and MIT-focused E14 Fund—Overjet CEO Wardah Iman is an MIT PhD graduate—will help the company grow out what it claims is the “transformation of dental care.”
Overjet is a very Massachusetts affair, having already been supported by MIT and Harvard Innovation Lab. Crosslink has made previous investments in Weave, a software startup whose solution is often used by dental professionals. Weave’s $70m Series D round last year valued the Utah-based firm at almost a billion dollars.
Overjet uses AI to analyze dental clinical data and help payers and providers improve patient care and profitability. It is part of a global dental service market estimated to be worth $436.2bn in 2018 according to The Business Research Company, an analyst.
