The 2024 AERA Annual Meeting call for submissions will open May 31. Submissions are due July 31. The 2024 AERA Annual Meeting theme—“Dismantling Racial Injustice and Constructing Educational Possibilities: A Call to Action”—“asks researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to imagine boldly what education spaces free of racial injustice can look like.”

In Memoriam

AERA members who have recently passed away
Bruce S. Cooper died on April 26. He was professor emeritus at Fordham University, where he taught in the Division of Educational Leadership, Administration, and Policy at Fordham University for 33 years. He served as chair of the AERA Politics in Education SIG and had been a member of AERA Division A—Administration, Organization, and Leadership; Division K—Teaching and Teacher Education; and Division L—Educational Policy and Politics.
Marshall “Mike” Smith, 85, died on May 1. During the Clinton administration, Smith served as under secretary and acting deputy secretary in the U.S. Department of Education. Earlier, he was dean of Stanford’s school of education and the Hewlett Foundation’s education program. Smith was a member of AERA Division G—Social Context of Education and Division L—Educational Policy and Politics. Read more
