Absen supplies first 70m pixel LED installation in the NBA

Date:

Absen LED displays incorporating more than 70 million pixels have been installed at the home of the Utah Jazz basketball team – the most at any NBA stadium.

The installation at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City encompasses upper and lower ribbons affixed to the seating gallery, a centre-hung display including sideline and baseline boards, trapezoid corners and underbelly displays, as well as auxiliary courtside boards.

The displays, which were from Absen’s N4 Plus Series, were installed by Revel Media Group.

Central to the viewing experience is the vast centre-hung display system with two sideline video displays measuring about 12m by 7m, and two end zone displays measuring 8m by 6m. The screen experience is extended by four trapezoid-shaped corner displays and four underbelly display boards each measuring about 5m by 3m.  The upper and lower ribbons feature 1,733 panels and are more than 250m long.

The screens, which feature a seamless 4mm pixel pitch display, show content ranging from instant replays to sponsorship messages and game statistics. The smart modules individually store their calibration detail, which is read automatically when any display is replaced.

Absen’s director of sales engineer, US western region, Kobe Xiao, said: “Absen is delighted to be involved with such a dramatic and historic sporting installation, where Absen products add so much to the game experience with more pixels than any other stadium has yet seen in the US.”
