‘AAA Open-World’ VR Game In Development At Rockstar Says LA Noire VR Team

Date:

Video Game Deluxe is looking for help on a new project for GTA and Read Dead developer Rockstar Games.

Earlier today an eagle-eyed Redditor by the name of u/arthlands_vr shared a link to a job listing posted on LinkedIn made by Sydney-based game developer Video Games Deluxe in which the company confirms it is in development of a “AAA open-world” VR game for Rockstar Games (Grand Theft Auto, Read Dead Redemption, Bully) and is looking for assistance in the form of senior programmers, designers, animators, and various other positions.

Having finished the critically well received L.A.Noire: The V.R. Case Files we are now gearing up for a new project, a AAA open world title in VR for Rockstar. 2020 marks our 7th year of working exclusively for Rockstar in Sydney and we are excited to taking on this ground breaking project.

We have a number of job openings in our Sydney studio including Senior Programmers, Engine Programmer, Designer and Animator. If you are interested in one of these positions or would like two speak to someone who works here about VGD please get in touch.

As stated in the posting, Video Game Deluxe is the developer behind Rockstar’s L.A. Noire: VR Case Files, a VR remake of the original 2017 detective action-adventure game. Obviously Rockstar was happy enough with final product to enlist their help on yet another immersive project. Based on the wording in the update, it sounds as though the company is working on an entirely new adventure rather than a VR remake of a previously-released title.

Of course the project is still in early development, so don’t expect any significant updates in the coming months.
