5 Potential Trade Destinations for Johnathan Abram

Date:

The Las Vegas Raiders have talked to teams about trading safety Johnathan Abram. Here are five potential trade destinations for Johnathan Abram.

1. Detroit Lions

With the Lions allowing the most points per game in the league, it is apparent that they need to make significant upgrades. Former sixth-round pick DeShon Elliott is currently manning the strong safety position for the Lions. While it wouldn’t fix the entire defense, Abram could improve the unit.

Abram is known for his hard-hitting and playing through the whistle. Dan Campbell has tried to instill toughness in his teams and likely would love the energy Abram brings. If they can get Abram without giving up much draft capital, it would be a win.

2. Buffalo Bills

The Bills are looking like the best team in the league. Their defense has been good, but Micah Hyde was lost for the season. To make matters worse, Jordan Poyer has been dealing with a rib injury and drove 15 hours to play in the game against the Chiefs. If they want to get more depth and help at safety, getting Abram before a run for a Super Bowl wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Buffalo will be buyers at the trade deadline and have already made calls for Christian McCaffrey. If they want to go all in, they can also get Abram. He would bring some physicality to the backend of their defense and can be acquired cheaply.

3. Seattle Seahawks

Another team that has had an injury at the safety position are the Seattle Seahawks. Jamal Adams was lost for the season due to injury. Coming into the season, Seattle wasn’t seen as a team that would be competitive, but they are 3-3 and are playing well.

If the Seahawks want to make a run at the playoffs, getting Abram would be a good idea. They may feel burned by the trade to bring in Adams in the first place, but Abram will cost the Seahawks way less. Abram can slide right into the strong safety position and help some of the young corners on the Seahawks’ roster.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars

Andre Cisco has looked good at free safety, but Rayshawn Jenkins has struggled at strong safety this season. Abram could take the spot of Jenkins to help the Jaguars, who have been on a losing skid as of late.

For a young team, Abram is still a youthful option to help the team moving forward into the next few seasons. Even if the Jaguars want to win this year (they have a 2-4 record), getting Abram could be a move to make. They will not have to give up too much and can make a quality unit even better.

5. Arizona Cardinals

The season hasn’t started off quite the way the Cardinals had hoped. They are 2-4 and need to get some wins over the next few weeks. While one of their safeties, Buda Baker, is a stalwart on their defense, the other safety position has not seen great play.

Arizona’s offense has struggled and they have already made a move to improve that by acquiring Robbie Anderson. Helping the defense should also be a priority if they want to get back in the playoff picture. It wouldn’t take a highly-valued draft pick to get Abram, so it makes it more feasible for the Cardinals.
