2023 World Series of Poker: First Two Tourneys Underway

Date:

The most exciting time of the year for poker players is upon us: the 2023 World Series of Poker has begun. Running May 30 through July 18, the 2023 WSOP has 95 live bracelet events, the most in history. There are also 20 bracelet events on WSOP.com for the combined Nevada/New Jersey network and seven each for Michigan and Pennsylvania.

As is tradition, the opening tournament on Tuesday is the $500 Casino Employees No-Limit Hold’em Event. The first open event is Event #2: $25,000 High Roller Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em.

Players will really start flooding Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas in the Strip on Wednesday, as three tournaments kick off, highlighted by the first of four starting flights for Event #3: $1,000 Mystery Millions. The Mystery Millions guarantees $1m for first place and has a top bounty prize of $1m.

Completing Wednesday’s schedule will be the opening days of the Tournament of Champions, which was at the end of the WSOP last year, and Event #5: $1,500 Dealers Choice Six-Handed.

last year’s Main Event was the second-largest of all time

The $10,000 Main Event begins July 3 and runs all the way through July 17, with a one-day break before the start of the final table. Last year’s Main Event was the second-largest of all time, missing the record by just 110 entries; tournament organizers believe this could be the year that the 2006 record of 8,773 players is broken.
