2023 NFL Mock Draft October 1

Date:

The college football season is about to start, but it isn’t too early to look ahead. Here is the 2023 NFL Mock Draft October 1.

1. Las Vegas Raiders- Will Anderson, EDGE, Alabama Crimson Tide

The Raiders have Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones, but if they get the number one pick they need to take the best player available and that is Anderson. He is a game-wrecker as a pass rusher, but needs to stop committing penalties. Maybe that’s why he’ll fit in with the Raiders.

2. Houston Texans- C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State Buckeyes

Davis Mills has played well, but if the Texans are drafting this highly, getting a potential franchise signal-caller has to be the move, or they need to trade out. Stroud has nice poise and touch, which has been on display this season.

3. Seattle Seahawks- Bryce Young, QB, Alabama Crimson Tide

The Seahawks are in the middle of a rebuild and the only cure for that is an elite quarterback. Young has been clutch throughout his career at Alabama and is very accurate.

4. Atlanta Falcons- Jalen Carter, DL, Georgia Bulldogs

Atlanta has invested a lot of their last few drafts on the offense, but can get an impact defensive player in Carter. He could line up next to Grady Jarrett and give them one of the best interior defensive line groups in the league.

5. Carolina Panthers- Will Levis, QB, Kentucky Wildcats

The Panthers’ offense is sputtering no matter who is at quarterback the last few years. They should get a signal-caller in the draft if they select this highly. Levis has a strong arm and is a good athlete, but can improve his decision-making.

6. Washington Commanders- Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee Volunteers

Hooker is an older prospect, but protects the ball and can make throws downfield. Carson Wentz should not be starting for the Commanders in 2023.

7. New York Jets- Myles Murphy, EDGE, Clemson Tigers

The Jets rank near the bottom of the league in sacks and need to get after the quarterback more. Murphy has just 1.5 sack, but by most advanced stats, he is doing a good job of getting pressure.

8. Detroit Lions- Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia Bulldogs

Detroit finally is getting some good play out of Jeff Okudah, but they need more in their secondary.

9. Pittsburgh Steelers- Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State Buckeyes

Pittsburgh improved the offensive line slightly this offseason, but more work needs to be done. Johnson played guard early in his Ohio State career, but is a more natural tackle and is moving there this season.

10. Tennessee Titans- Nolan Smith, EDGE, Georgia Bulldogs

Losing Harold Landry for the year hurt the Titans’ pass rush, but they can get really good with his return and by using a draft pick on an edge rusher.

11. Philadelphia Eagles (via NO)- Bryan Bresee, DL, Clemson Tigers

The Eagles don’t have too many needs overall, but can continue to add to their defensive line with their first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

12. Miami Dolphins (via SF)- Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas Longhorns

Miami has looked good offensively, but could be even more explosive with a great running back. Other than pass protection, there won’t be too many weaknesses on Robinson’s scouting report.

13. Arizona Cardinals- Isaiah Foskey, EDGE, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Arizona is really struggling with the loss of Chandler Jones and need to get more pass rushers to improve their defense for the 2023 season.

14. Los Angeles Chargers- Broderick Jones, OG/C, Georgia Bulldogs

With Rashawn Slater going down, the offensive line will be an issue for the Chargers. Getting better on the interior next offseason should help.

15. New England Patriots- Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU Tigers

Can the Patriots ignore the wide receiver position forever? They should be able to get a premier talent like Boutte in the first round to help open up their offense.

16. Indianapolis Colts- B.J. Ojulari, EDGE, LSU Tigers

Figuring out the quarterback position likely won’t happen in the middle of the first round, but the Colts can get a better pass rusher across from Kwity Paye.

17. Cincinnati Bengals- Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Mayer is one of the best all-around tight end prospects in recent memory. He could really make the Cincinnati offense scary.

18. Houston Texans (via CLE)- Jaxson Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State Buckeyes

The recent trend in the NFL is to pair quarterbacks with their former receiver from college. Smith-Njigba would give Stroud a reliable weapon to use as the Texans continue to rebuild.

19. Seattle Seahawks (via Den)- Antonio Johnson, S, Texas A&M Aggies

While the Seahawks may have not had the best results from the Jamal Adams trade, taking Richardson would give them a versatile defensive back who can play multiple positions.

20. Chicago Bears- Jordan Addison, WR, USC Trojans

Justin Fields hasn’t been the best passer this season, but he also doesn’t have great receivers. Addison won the Biletnikoff Award in 2021 as the nation’s best receiver.

21. New York Giants- Trenton Simpson, LB, Clemson Tigers

The Giants might have the worst linebacking group in the league. Simpson will need to add to his frame, but he can make plays against the run and has improved vs. the pass.

22. Dallas Cowboys- Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State Nittany Lions

Porter Jr. has really played well this season as a physical corner. He can make more of the routine plays, while Trevon Diggs goes after the ball on the other side of the field.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars- Brandon Joseph, S, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Joseph has great ball skills and can help the backend of the Jaguars’ defense right away.

24. Minnesota Vikings- Clark Phillips, CB, Utah Utes

Patrick Peterson isn’t getting any younger, so the Vikings will need to address the cornerback position.

25. Baltimore Ravens- Andre Carter, EDGE, Army Black Knights

The Ravens’ offense has been on fire, while their defense has let them down. Getting more pass-rushing help is never a bad idea.

26. Kansas City Chiefs- Felix Anudike-Uzomah, EDGE, Kansas State Wildcats

Anudike-Uzomah can be a streaky pass-rusher, but the Chiefs need all the help they can get in that regard.

27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida Gators

Tom Brady doesn’t have too much longer and the Buccaneers will need a new signal-caller. It might make sense to take a risk on Richardson, who has nice physical tools, but questionable accuracy and decision-making.

28. Buffalo Bills- Peter Skoronski, OT, Northwestern Wildcats

The Bills need to make sure Josh Allen is protected for the long-term. Skoronksi can play either tackle or move inside, as he was originally recruited to Northwestern as a center.

29. Green Bay Packers- Gervon Dexter, DL, Florida Gators

Green Bay has nice pieces on defense, but they need to keep adding to their defensive line on their 3-4 front.

30. Miami Dolphins- Forfeited Pick for Tampering

31. Detroit Lions (via LAR)- Jalen Catalon, S, Arkansas Razorbacks

Catalon was injured and out for the season and his impact can already be seen on the Arkansas secondary. Getting an impact safety would really help the defense overall.

32. Philadelphia Eagles- Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina Tar Heels

The Eagles have two great receivers in DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, but getting another will just make the offense even better.
